I originally got these when they first came out and remember them fondly as the best feeling basketball shoes ever. By this I mean that you almost feel the ground, feel very stable and able to make quick cuts and changes of direction. The downside was that adidas carved the sole for this purpose and not necessarily for tread life with the result that the lasted for 1.5 months of outdoor play about 5 days a week when I was in highschool. On the reissued shoes adidas seems to have beefed up the more vulnerable areas of the sole to correct this issue however it doesn't feel as good. Its more like a regular basketball shoe now as opposed to the best feeling basketball shoe ever. I consider myself something of an authority on this as I've gone through about 3 pairs a year for the past 20 or so years, nike jordan, adidas, even reebok back when they were respectable.
Then again maybe everything just seems way iller when you're 16 years old.
