Last Minute Goal – a “Goal” scored in the last few moments of the game

Laws of the Game – the rules of soccer, first established in 1863, and now determined by the International Football Association Board, with the most current version adopted in 1997

League Club – a soccer club in one of the top professional leagues in a country

Loan – temporarily transferring a player to another team without transferring the contract; the length of a loan can range from a single game to an entire season

Local Derby – a regularly scheduled competition between rival teams

Long Ball – a long-distance “Cross” intended to get the ball downfield quickly, with little regard for either strategy or accuracy 

Lost the Dressing Room – a term describing a manager who has lost the respect of his or her team and is very probably close to being fired
