Glossary of Shoe Terms - Cambrelle - Cushioning
| Cambrelle | A durable textured fabric lining within the Carolina brand that removes moisture from the skin thus providing an additional level of warmth. |
| Cap toe | An additional piece of leather covering the toe of a shoe. The piece of leather can be designed in a variety of shapes and patterns for the purpose of style. |
| Carbon rubber | A solid rubber outsole made with carbon additives known to be harder to the touch and more durable. |
| C-Cap | High pressure molded EVA which then forms a firm yet lightweight and cushioned midsole in the New Balance shoe. |
| Cell | Puma's hexagonal shaped polyurethane cells made with varying amounts of CM-EVA or polyurethane foam for support. The PU cells are used because they have a slower rate of compression and breakdown than regular foam. |
| Cemented Construction | A shoe construction in which the upper of a shoe is attached to the sole by cement rather than by stitching. This construction makes for a lighter and more flexible shoe. |
| ClimaCool | A completely ventilated upper, liner and sole of a shoe which is constructed to reduce heat and moisture accumulation allowing for the cooling of the entire foot in an adidas shoe. |
| Clima-FIT | Nike brand fabric used to create apparel that's light, breathable and water-resistant. The ultra-fine fibers within the fabric repel water from the skin and provide a gateway for excess heat and perspiration to escape. |
| ClimaProof | Wind and water resistant adidas shoes that keep feet protected, dry and comfortable in any weather condition. |
| ClimaWarm | Lightweight, thermally insulated adidas shoes that keep feet warm in cold climates. |
| Clog | A type of footwear with a sole, upper and no back that allows the foot to just slide in. The clog has an open back, closed toe and a platform styled heel typically made of wood or rubber. |
| Collar | An often padded strip of material which can be attached to the opening or topline of a shoe for comfort and decoration. |
| Combi-Lasted | The forefoot is made with a slip lasting and the rearfoot has an insole board to control excess motion. |
| Contoured Flatbed | A memory foam insole which will mold to the shape of one's foot. |
| Counter | A stiff piece of plastic or other material that when placed in the heel of a shoe between the lining and upper will retain the shape of the back of the shoe. |
| Crash pad | A removable pad that when placed on the outer heel of a Nike running shoe will minimize the pressure of initial impact on the foot. |
| Cushioned Shoe | A general term for a shoe without added stability features intend for runners with a neutral gait style. |
| Cushioning | The overall ability a shoe has to absorb the impact of foot strike, which will vary between shoe brands. The level of cushioning is controlled by the level of softness created by the insole and outsole padding. |
| Custom Shoes | Custom shoes are specifically tailored to the feet of an individual. |
