Ultramarathon – any race longer than a traditional “Marathon,” such as 50-miles, 100-miles, or a 24-hour race    

Underpronation – See “Supination”
Underwater weighing – a method of measuring body composition by submersion in water; this is one of the most accurate methods of measuring body fat, but requires expensive specialized equipment   

Upper – a running shoe’s top region 

USA Track & Field – the central organization for most forms of running in the United States   

United States Olympic Committee (USOC) – the organization in charge of the Olympics in the US 

Vitamins – nutrients required in small amounts by the human body in order to properly function; more than the required amount can be harmful
