Frontcourt

The frontcourt area is the portion of the court between the midcourt line and the endline nearest the offenseÆs basket. This is opposite the backcourt. The frontcourt is considered the offensive half of the floor. One teamÆs front court, therefore, is the other teamÆs backcourt.

Once the ball has crossed into the frontcourt, the team will attempt to move the ball close to the basket for a score. During a full court press a team keeps players up in their frontcourt to pressure the opposing team and try to make a steal. If the ball is stolen there it can quickly result in a score.

After a rebound or change in possession the players try to get back to their frontcourt as quickly as possible to come open quickly for a pass and score, or to set up their offense. A rebound made in a teamÆs frontcourt is called an offensive Rebound.
