Team Fouls -- When a player commits a “Personal Foul” it’s also counted against his or her team. See “Over the Limit”
Technical Fouls or Ts – Usually non-contact infractions that involve unsportsmanlike conduct, which can be called not only against players, but coaches (for profanity, improper conduct at the bench, etc.) and even occasionally, the crowd (throwing things on the court, too much artificial noise)
Three-on-Three -- Usually a “Pickup Game” played with three players on the court for each team instead of the customary five
Three-Point Play -- Though this phrase could technically refer to a “Three Pointer,” it almost always describes a successful “Two-Pointer” followed by a made “Foul Shot.” See “And One”
Three Pointer -- A made “Basket” attempted from outside the three-point line – the arc beyond the foul line
Throw-In -- Passing the ball “Inbounds” to restart the “Game Clock”
Timeout -- A team or an official may call a short-term halt to both the “Game Clock” and game play
Tip-Off -- The “Jump Ball” that begins the game
Transition -- When a team switches from playing “Offense” to “Defense” or vice versa
Traveling -- An illegal movement by a ball carrier at the end of a “Dribble Series” which results in loss of possession. The most common types of this violation involve either taking too many steps or moving the “Pivot” foot. While picking the pivot foot up off the floor is not traveling, the violation occurs once the foot is back on the ground.
Triple Double -- Occurs when a player records double digit figures in three categories (points, assists, rebounds, blocks, or steals)
Turnover -- A mistake made by the offense that results in the loss of possession, through illegal maneuvers or taking the ball out of bounds
Tweener – A versatile player who can alternate between positions or who combines the skills needed for more than one position
