Baseball Terms - Q-R
Quick Return - The illegal act of a pitcher when the ball is thrown with the intent of catching the batter off guard.
RBI - See Runs Batted In
Relief Pitcher - A pitcher that does not start the game but comes into the game to relieve the current pitcher.
Right Fielder - The defensive position located at the right side of the outfield.
Run - The credit given to the offensive team after a runner touches all four bases. Also known as a score.
Run Down - The act of the defensive player(s) in an attempt to put out the offensive runner between bases.
Runner - Any offensive player on the baseball field other than the batter. Once a batter hits the ball into fair territory, the batter becomes a runner.
Runs Batted In - The statistical information on an offensive batter that reflects the number of runs the player has advanced to home plate with a hit or walk. Also known as a RBI.
