Lead Off Hitter - The first offensive player in the line up to bat. The lead off hitter usually has the highest on base percentage and is often a good base stealer.

League - An organization of baseball teams that make up a larger group. Often a league is subdivided into regional leagues, state leagues, district leagues, community leagues, or by some other geographical designation.

Left Fielder - The defensive position located at the left side of the outfield.

Left On Base - The number of offensive players that remain on base after the third out of the inning.

Line Drive - A powerfully batted ball by the offensive batter that has a high velocity with a low altitude.

Line Up - A list that is presented to the umpire and opposing coach before the start of the game that contains the order in which the offensive batters will bat as well as the defensive fielding positions they will play.

Little League - An international organization that provides baseball for youths ranging in age from 5 to 16.

Live Ball - A ball that is in play. If a ball is not a live ball it is a dead ball.
