Glove - The piece of equipment used by the defensive player to catch the baseball. Different positions require different types and sizes of gloves. Gloves are commonly made of leather.

Grand Slam - An offensive play where the batter hits a home run with an offensive player at all bases. The grand slam adds four runs to the offensive team's total.

Ground Ball - A ball batted by the offensive player that makes contact with the ground before it is touched by a defensive player.

Ground Rule Double - The award of two bases given to a hitter and the runners when the ball bounces over the outfield wall or when a live ball is touched by a spectator.

Helmet - A piece of equipment used by the batter to protect the head.

Hit - The offensive act of batting the ball into fair territory while the batter reaches base without an error by the defensive players.

Hit And Run - The strategic offensive act of hitting the ball while the runners attempt to steal a base.

Hitter - The offensive member of the team batting the ball thrown by the pitcher. Also known as the batter.

Home Plate - The location on the field where the batter stands to hit the ball. It is the last base that must be navigated to score a run. It is guarded by the catcher on the defensive team.

Home Run - A type of score that allows the offensive player to navigate all bases and home plate with one hit. Usually this is a hit that is batted over the outfield wall in fair territory. Less common is an inside-the-park home run where the ball does not go over the outfield wall and the runner navigates all bases in one continious action. A home run is also known as a homer. Home Team - The team on whose field the game is being played.

Hot Box - The term used when the defensive players trap a runner between bases.

Hot Corner - The slang term used for the defensive position of third baseman.
