ERA - Abbreviation for Earned Run Average.

Earned Run - A score that is made without an error, passed ball, or catcher's interference.

Earned Run Average - The statistical information on a pitcher that reflects the number of runs that the defensive team scores in nine innings. Also known as ERA.

Error - A mistake made by a player such as dropping the ball.
