Thong

A thong is a type of backless sandal that features a V-strap, which is made to fit in-between the first and second toes. The strap extends down to the sides of the shoe where they are attached for stability purposes. The V-strap can be made from any combination of materials such as leather, nylon or plastic. A thong is an open-toed shoe that is typically worn in warm weather as it exposes all of the foot to the air. The sole of the thong can be made of leather, plastic, wood or rubber and can vary in terms of its height. The term thong denotes the V-strap, which in itself is a style all to its own. The thong shoe makes a nice complement to different outfits. The different heel heights and overall design of the shoe is what differentiates a casual thong from a dressy one. A thong sandal can be found in styles such as:

The thong sandal itself can be embossed with jewels, buckles, elaborate designs, ribbons or any other item that may seem appealing and complement an outfit. Again, the more simple the design of a thong, the more casual it may be considered to be. For instance, red rubber thong sandals might be viewed as being for the beach whereas red leather thongs encrusted with jewels could be worn to a nice restaurant. Basically, thongs can be bought in any variety making them a versatile choice for the summer.
