Quarter lining

The quarter lining is the inner lining of the rearmost portion of the shoe, which can be made from leather or another type of fabric. The quarter lining can be used to insulate or cool the foot depending on the type of material used to construct the lining. The quarter lining also functions as a barrier between the outer material of the heel and the inner portion, meaning it absorbs perspiration and ensures the abrasions do not occur on the back of the heel. The quarter lining is usually softer than the material of the upper to reduce the likelihood of blisters.
