Post

A post or medial post is a thicker midsole material added to the inner side of the shoe to reduce overpronation. Medial posts can be found in the motion control or stability shoes of many shoe manufacturers because they help to return the foot to its most natural position which might be able to reduce the risk of injury. The medial post is the area of the midsole on the inside of the heel that is purposefully harder and denser to prevent your heel from rolling inwards. A medial post can be constructed from the combination of a plastic piece and denser midsole materials or just denser midsoles materials only.

A medial post is the key feature used in most athletic shoes to correct pronation. The density and size of the medial post depends on the severity of the overpronation. The most severe overpronators would find an extremely large and dense midsole material, which would act almost as a cast, restricting the foot from excessive movement inwards. A medial post is meant to prevent pronation so that the wearer can move in comfort.
