Pinking is the serrated, decorative edging found on the vamp, toecap or quarter of the shoe. Pinking is used on the upper of a shoe to add decoration and can contain additional color, stitching or metal decoration for effect. Pinking can be found on all types of casual to dressy styled shoes, and it is typically used in conjuntion with leather or synthetic leather elements.
