Open-weave mesh is an open-textured fabric used on the upper of the Nike brand footwear. Due to its breathable, lightweight construction, it provides a consistent, resilient fit. The open-weave mesh can be knitted or woven and allows for the foot to remain ventilated during high impact activities. The open weave mesh can be used on the upper of a shoe in conjunction with leather, rubber or any other synthetic material. The open weave mesh can be found as the stand-alone material on the upper of water shoes or other casual summer shoes and is usually featured on the forefoot area of a running shoe.
