Opanka Construction

A patented, hand-crafted shoe construction method exclusive to the Carolina brand in which the upper is attached to the outsole and sock lining with a heavy waxed thread making the footwear extremely flexible. The heavy waxed threading is used instead of a normal stitch to increase the flexibility of the shoe. The thread allows the upper, outsole and sockliner to move with the natural movement of the foot. The Carolina shoe company makes footwear suitable for construction and other high-risk activities so the shoes are typically very heavy and thick as to protect the foot. The Opanka construction maintains the necessary safety devices within the shoe while adding flexibility as well as comfort.
