Nike Air

Nike Air, in its simplest term, refers to the Nike branded air sole unit that when encapsulated in urethane provides exceptional cushioning. The Nike Air sole features high volumes of pressurized gas inside of a durable yet flexible urethane bag. The air sole unit will compress upon impact and then immediately revert to its original shape to absorb the next shock cause by the foot strike. Nike Air was the first of the air technology developed by Nike and has remained the standard in impact protection. The air units can be produced in various shapes, thicknesses and pressures depending on the positioning within the shoe. The Nike Air sole units are found in the midsole area of the shoe and can be seen from the outside of the shoe depending on the style of the shoe itself. Air sole units can be found in the heel or forefoot areas or throughout the entire length of the shoe. There are several different models of the Nike Air shoe such as:

  • Nike Air
  • Nike Air Max
  • Nike Air Max 360
  • Nike Air Max 180
