Monk strap

A monk strap is a wide strap found across the instep of a shoe. The monk strap buckles on the side and is typically found on a closed toed mens' blucher patterned shoe. Monk straps are found on loafer styled shoes as an optional variety. The term monk strap is simply a fancy word for a buckle. Monk straps can be found in a variety of colors, although they are typically made of leather.
