Lift

A lift, as related to the footwear industry, is one of the several layers made of leather or leather board used to construct a heel. The height of the lift is what determines the height of the heel of the shoe. A lift can easily be detected by the layers on the back of the heel of a dress shoe. Within the context of the footwear industry, a lift can also refer to the removable heel inserts made by manufacturers for a variety of problems and functions. A heel lift actually increases the height of the heel and can be used in the following ways:

  • To correct differences in leg length
  • For Achilles tendon pain
  • For sports such as running and tennis
  • To correct lower back pain
