Kitten Heel

A kitten heel is a women's shoe with a stiletto heel that usually measures between one and a half to two inches tall. A kitten heel is denoted by the slight curve that places the heel in from the edge of the shoe. The heels on most high-heeled shoes extend straight down from the back of the shoe; a kitten heel curves slightly inwards.

The kitten heel was introduced in the 1950s and worn by girls who were considered too young to wear a higher heel. Today they are popular because even though they feature a shorter heel, they do not compromise on sex appeal. For this reason, a kitten heel is categorized as a high heel instead of a low heel. There is something very alluring about the shape of the heel. The kitten heel can be found on close toed or open toed heels or on a variety of sandal styles.
