Interlocking PU/Phylon midsole

The term interlocking PU/Phylon midsole describes the Nike combination midsole with dual capabilities. The midsole is constructed with dual materials, which provide stability in the heel and cushioning from the midfoot to the toes. Firm polyurethane (PU) stabilizes the heel while phylon provides ample cushioning from the midfoot to the toe area of the foot. This type of midsole is important because it is able to support each part of the foot accurately. The firm polyurethane material used in the construction of the heel area helps to discourage the heel from unnecessary movement while the phylon material provides cushioning to the forefoot which absorbs most of the shock of impact. The Nike shoe that incorporates this type of dual material midsole has dual capabilities meaning it is well suited for a variety of different foot types.
