High heel shoes are women’s shoes with a heel that is higher and more narrow than the toe area. A high-heeled shoe creates an angle of the foot and elevates the wearer’s height. There are many different categories into which high heels fit, such as:

• Mid heel
• Boots

Any shoe becomes a high heel if the heel is higher than the toe area. High heels are more of a dressy shoe and can be worn with any item of clothing from dresses and business suits to more casual choices like jeans, capris and stretch pants.

The item of clothing you decide to pair with a particular style of high heels will depend on several factors like the occasion, level of comfort, the shoe’s color and the season. High heels are a very diverse group of footwear, thus lumping all of the different styles into one category is difficult.

The design of the heel can be found in a variety of shapes, which add to the individuality of the shoes themselves. The heel can be very narrow or wide, round or square, tapered, blocked, wedge style or a pump. Technically, "pumps" is another word for high-heeled shoes. High heels come in many different colors and fabrics such as:

As mentioned before, high-heeled shoes are very diverse in their design and therefore can be worn with any outfit as the person sees fit. They can be viewed as sexy or very conservative and professional depending on the height of the heel.
