Heel tab

A heel tab is the open hook or notch made out of fabric or rubber that extends from the back of the heel counter. The heel tab should make it easier to get the shoe on and off and should be low enough and flexible enough not to irritate the Achilles tendon. If the heel tab is hard and extends too far past the heel counter, it could cause blistering and irritation of the Achilles tendon.
