You're currently on:GirthWithin the shoe industry, the term girth is used to describe the circumference of the shoe measured around the ball of the foot. This measurement would coincide with the measurements for the shoe's width. The larger the girth, the wider the shoe is. The smaller the girth, the narrower the shoe is. Girth can also be applied to the circumference of the foot measured around the ball of the foot. This measurement also directly coincides with the measurement of one's shoe width. You should make sure that the girth of your foot complements the girth of the shoe; otherwise the shoe will fit improperly. The width of your foot actually does a lot to determine which shoes will best accommodate your feet. This is important because the shoe should not feel too tight or as though it will slip off your foot. If a shoe is too wide making for excess room it will also become uncomfortable especially for activities such as running. The same principal applies if a shoe fits too tightly. Width sizes are denoted in letters such as: AAA, B or C. |
