Forefoot Air-Sole unit

The Forefoot Air-Sole unit is made by Nike and is found in the forefoot of the shoe's sole. This system reduces the stress of impact on the forefoot for those people who strike the ground with their forefoot first. The Forefoot Air-Sole unit is like any other Nike Air Sole unit in that it aims to provide superior cushioning as if the wearer is walking on air. The forefoot absorbs a good percentage of the initial shock of impact because it hits the ground first in most cases. Nike's Forefoot Air-Sole unit is meant to absorb the shock so that the wearer can run comfortably for a longer period of time.
