External Counter Reinforcer

The External Counter Reinforcer is the term for the New Balance brands reinforcing thermoplastic urethane bracket. The External Counter Reinforcer stabilizes the heel and prevents overpronation by controlling the shoe's heel counter. The reinforcer is made from a mould of thermoplastic urethane, which is strong enough to restrict the heel from kicking out from under your shoe. The kicking-out motion puts your foot out of alignment and causes overpronation or outward rolling of the foot.
