Burnish

The term burnish refers to the buffing process used on a particular shoe to achieve an antiquing effect on the leather. Burnishing is done strictly for style; it is not meant to enhance the construction of the shoe in any way. Burnishing results in an aged look of the leather of the shoe which can be very appealing to those who desire that effect.
