Many boots feature a distinctive heel, which will vary greatly in terms of height depending on the use and style of the boot. High heel boots are typically worn for fashion, while thick, short heels are normally found on work boots. Some boots even have a flat sole but often no protection from the elements, thus they are mostly used for fashion purposes. Work boots are meant to protect the wearer's feet not only from the elements but also from sharp or heavy objects that could fall on one's feet. Work boots are typically heavier than the normal boot, are waterproof and often feature a steel toe for safety. Fashion boots such as stiletto knee-highs or leather suede booties are typically worn in the winter although they can be worn all year long. Fashion boots can be worn with skirts, jeans or dresses depending on the style of the boot itself. Cowboy boots can be worn for both work and pleasure, as they are heavy enough to protect the foot and ankle yet look great on both men and women. Sport boots such as hiking boots come in handy because they will protect the feet from the elements but are lightweight enough to walk long distances. |
