A blucher refers to the manner in which a shoe ties up. A blucher is a shoe that has two pieces of leather joined across the upper with the lacing. The blucher typically refers to men's dress shoes, although any shoe can have blucher styled lacing. A blucher is naturally more adjustable than a balmoral shoe because the bottom of the lace-up part of the shoe is not sewn down and can as a result be pulled tighter or left more open in the area around the ball of the foot.
