You're currently on:Biomechanically EfficientThe term biomechanically efficient refers to a runner with a neutral gait cycle. A neutral gait cycle is one in which their feet do not under or overpronate. Underpronation is when the foot rolls slightly or excessively inwards and overpronation is when the foot rolls lightly or excessively outwards. Both conditions are abnormal, as most runners would desire a neutral gait. Individuals with a neutral gait do not need added stability features in their shoes for comfort. Their feet can be comfortable in any neutral cushioning running shoe because their gait cycle is neutral. Runners with a neutral gait cycle could be less prone to knee, hip and ankle injury only because their foot does not naturally roll inwards or outwards. |
