Athleisure Shoes

Athleisure or athletic inspired shoes are a style of casual footwear made to look like athletic shoes. They do not offer the same standards in cushioning and stability as an athletic shoe but are appropriate for daily activities. The main difference between the two types is that athletic shoes can be worn for strenuous physical activity, while athleisure shoes should not. Athleisure shoes are great for walking and other casual activities but should not be worn for excessive activity because they were not constructed to provide the foot with enough support.

Athleisure shoes can be bought in a variety of styles, from your average tennis shoe to an open-toed sandal. Athleisure shoes will typically have a rubber sole and more of a sporty edge than your regular casual sneaker. For instance, an open-toed athleisure shoe will probably have wider straps than your average sandal, as well as straps at both the instep and heel. The sandal might even have Velcro straps, making it easier to get in and out of the shoe. Athleisure shoes normally have fashionable designs and stripes and are produced by companies such as:

  • adidas
  • Converse
  • Nike
  • Puma

As mentioned before, athleisure shoes can be found in a variety of styles, some of them featuring laces while others are slip-on or step-in. The most important thing to consider when buying an athleisure shoe is their level of comfort for everyday activities such as walking and errands. They are made for the physically active person but are not made for the actual strenuous activity itself.
