Air Max - Nike Air Max

The Air Max shoe is a Nike brand athletic shoe originally released in 1987. It is known for its visible encapsulated air pockets located in the sole of the shoe and was the first shoe to feature visible air technology for comfort. The Air Max itself incorporates the maximum amount of air within the sole for the ultimate in cushioning and comfort. The Air Max shoe comes in a variety of colors and designs and it is meant for people who want to feel as though they are walking on air. The air inside the pockets flow evenly throughout the sole of the shoe to complement your individual walking style. The shoe is meant to provide equal cushioning to each part of one’s foot at each step in their individual gait. Although originally designed for running and walking, Air Max technology is now used in shoes designed for sports like basketball, golf, tennis and cross training, and has been integrated into casual shoes as well.

The Nike Air Max has always remained primarily a running shoe, and has been constantly improved through its different models since 1987. Some of the Air Max models are:

The Air Max 360 is the most recent model and was launched in January 2006. It is meant to last longer because of the 360 degree air technology which put the Max Air throughout the midsole, replacing traditional foam insoles and increasing comfort and longevity.

The Air Max shoes themselves have always been very popular among the youth, both domestic and abroad, and are a staple in the hip-hop community. As mentioned before, while the Nike Air Max is a traditional running shoe, its casual style has made it a fashion staple among diverse groups of people.
