Carmel Valley SDJA Turkey Trot
Started in 2007, The Carmel Valley Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk has become an annual event. The Turkey Trot serves a dual purpose: it raises money to benefit the San Diego Jewish Academy athletics programs and the canned food drive benefits the Hand Up Youth Food Pantry at Jewish Family Services' Turk Family Center.
The food pantry provides a unique opportunity for teens, teaching them about the impact that they can make individually and as part of a greater team, and the difference their altruistic efforts can make in other lives. Their efforts and hands-on work are helping to tackle hunger in the San Diego Community.
The Carmel Valley Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk is held around Thanksgiving every year, and has continued to grow as an annual event. In addition to the 5K, there is a Thanksgiving themed costume contest for prizes, and participants receive goodie bags with gifts from local and national sponsors, such as SHOEBACCA.com.
Refreshments are provided, and everyone receives a Turkey Trot t-shirt.
We're proud to support this event, and encourage you to sign up and support the SDJA athletic programs as well as Hand Up Youth Food Pantry at the Carmel Valley Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk!
