SHOEBACCA.com was proud to sponsor the Third Annual San Diego Jewish Academy Turkey Trot. This afternoon event benefitted the SDJA Lions athletic programs and there was also a canned food drive to benefit the JFF Hand Up youth food pantry.

This 5K run featured runners of all ages, and started out with bright sunshine and very cold temperatures, just perfect for a Thanksgiving run! They held a Thanksgiving-themed costume contest, and saw some really creative candidates for that.

The 2009 Honorary Turkey was the editor of NBC's "Discover San Diego," Michelle Guerin. Michelle shared thoughts about gratitude and appreciation for being able to participate with the enthusiastic crowd.

After the race was finished, many prizes were given away, including $100 gift certificates from SHOEBACCA.com. Once the dust settled, the Third Annual San Diego Jewish Academy Turkey Trot raised over $12,000 and saw approximately 400 lbs of donated food items.
