Brand Information
PF Flyers' shoes are a timeless piece of Americana. In 1933, canvas footwear pioneer BF Goodrich patented the Posture Foundation insole, an innovation in comfort and performance, and began adding the new technology to its action shoes. Goodrich shoes with Posture Foundation became known simply as 'P-F' in 1937. In early advertisements, they encouraged comsumers to "Run faster and jump higher," and saw PF Flyers escaping gyms and ball fields to become fashionable active footwear for everyone in the 40s and 50s. PF Flyers styles ranged from high and low-top sport shoes to oxfords and moccasins 'for work, relaxation and play.' By the 1960s, PF Flyers was one of the most popular shoes in America.
After struggling with industry changes, PF Flyers was purchased by New Balance in 2001 and saw a revival in 2003, and today is reaching an entirely new generation that appreciates the same simple style and "Posture Foundation" support that their parents and grandparents fell in love with over the last 70 years. A recent reissue of the classic collaboration with one of basketball's earliest superstars, Bob Cousy, the All-American reminds consumers that some styles truly are timeless. With fresh ideas and upstart co-stars like rock legend Johnny Marr (Modest Mouse, The Smiths), PF Flyers will have you running faster and jumping higher in some ultra-cool kicks.
