Karhu Shoes

Founded in 1916, Karhu Sports is, as they say, "Finland's legendary running brand." One of the most known, unknown brands in the world, Karhu has, for nearly 100 years, delivered top quality sports gear. Through their storied history, they have developed products designed specifically for professional athletes.

The Karhu name wasn't actually taken until the 1920s, when it was adopted. Karhu means "bear" in Finnish. As most of the historic shoes did, Karhu did its part in WWII, making camouflage uniforms, platoon tents, army boots and skis for the Finnish army.

Karhu hit the 60s literally running, embracing the growing trend of street running, creating trademark running shoes that became iconic worldwide, and creating landmarks like the first use of nylon in a running shoe in 1965.

In the 70s, Karhu developed the first patented "air cushion" shock system in it's Champion shoe. Over 1,000,000 pairs of these shoes are sold worldwide.

Moving into the future, Karhu is not stopping. Its commitment to developing top notch professional footwear and athletic materials means more R&D, lightning fast technology and stellar design. It all boils down to the best shoes in the world for you!
