On May 22nd, 1905, the Gola brand was born. They got their start making football (that's soccer, to us revolutionaries here in the states) boots. As their success grew, they took on the slogan "Gola means Goals," which was an allusion to the rumor that the name "Gola" was an anagram for "goal."

During World War II, Gola did their part to help Britain score by making boots for the army. As the war ended and prosperity reigned again in England, Gola's production was centered on heavy boots and shoes, as well as continuing to innovate on football and rugby boots.

Gola's success relied on some pretty savvy marketing techniques for their time, from branding the bags of the first aid crews at football matches to gain TV coverage to picking up key stars to sponsor their gear.

Throughout the end of the century, Gola continued to produce top notch football shoes, and saw the explosive growth of its flagship shoe, the Harrier, originally released in 1968. This classic has a timeless design that is still appealing today!
