Etnies Shoes

Etnies skate shoes began over 20 years ago in France. Founded in 1986 with the drive to become a leader in pro-level skateboarding footwear, Etnies saw Pierre-Andre-Snizergues take charge of the company in 1989, making it the first skateboard shoe company owned by a professional skateboarder. Originally the company was called "Etnics," derived from the word "ethnic", a nod to the skateboarding sub-culture. After trademark issues, it was later renamed Etnies.

Now, Etnies is an American footwear brand based in Lake Forest, California and owned by Sole Technology, Inc. with roots deeply embedded in skateboarding. Etnies is primarily a maker of footwear designed for skateboarding, but in more recent years has also created shoes and clothing ostensibly for snowboarders, BMX and motocross riders as well as surfers. In addition to broadening their horizons to touch other sports besides skateboarding, Etnies has also expanded to include lines for toddlers, girls and women.

Their love for and dedication to skateboarding and extreme sports shines with some of the leading pros in these extreme sports. Names like Arto Saari, Ryan Sheckler, Bastien Salabanzi, Ryan Campbell and Lee Dainton have all helped to influence Etnies' unique catalog of style and performance. You can count on Etnies for continued performance on the deck or on the street!
