Brand History

Started in 1991 as a reaction to all of the madness that is the common sneaker, Simple established itself as a company focused on less>more. It took Simple 10+ years to refocus and realize, in 2004, that making changes that matter should always start with oneself. This new focus would become Simple's mantra. In 2005 Simple introduced the Green Toe collection. This has nothing to do with fungus; rather, it's a commanding lead on creating styles made from all-natural materials. These first two models quickly caught on as a favorite for many, and gave Simple the ego boost it needed to see that they could have a real impact. "How we make our shoes is just as important as why we make them. We're committed to making our products 100% sustainable." This quote from Simple is their manifesto, and why they do what they do. In 2006, Simple made changes to pursue their lofty goals, from changing to 100% post-consumer recycled packaging and shipping materials to changing to a bamboo lining in the shoes. Bamboo grows at a rate of nearly 20 feet per year, and is easily sustainable.

2007 saw the integration of recycled materials into Simple's outstanding line of footwear. These shoes started seeing materials like recycled car tires and plastic bottles becoming part of stylish and comfortable shoes. The following year, Simple introduced recycled bike tires and car inner tubes into the mix, as well as utilizing hemp and organic cotton to create vegan shoes.
