Brand History

Innovative style and rugged, skateboard-ready construction are the heart and soul of Lakai Footwear Limited. Instituted in 1999 after pro skaters Mike Carroll and Rick Howard left the umbrella of DC shoes behind them. After co-founding Girl Skateboards, Mike and Rick saw a need to up their contribution to the skateboarding world, and created Lakai to add their signature to the world of footwear.

Mike chose the name Lakai for the company based on a favorite character of his from the the movie "Children of the Corn" named Malakai. Sound a bit strange and unique? Well, it fits the character of Lakai Footwear Limited just perfectly. Their unique blend of durable materials and funky fresh style make the Lakai lines of shoes standouts, whether on the shelf at your local skate shop or here at SHOEBACCA.com.

Trendsetting concepts like The Recycling Program are another aspect of Lakai Footwear Limited that sets them apart from the pack. This program eliminates waste by using material offcuts that would otherwise be thrown out. Not only does this knock out a lot of trash, but it creates the most unique shoes in the industry. No two shoes are the same! The shoes sole is created from a mix of regrind rubber waste and new rubber, reducing the use of new rubber by 50% while still giving you outstanding traction. The Kost-One and Coda styles are produced in this recycled program, creating some of the coolest skate shoes in the world.

As Lakai Footwear Limited continues to experiment with cutting edge style and shows no fear in walking over the edge, we'll see more and more incredible innovations from their lab. Visit SHOEBACCA.com often to check out the latest style from Lakai Footwear Limited!

I bought these from Shoebacca last week, and bought the last size13. I love the look of these pure and simple. I can't wait to rock these, However I know Shobacca needs to turn a buck, but I miss the free shipping on everything. Still dying to rock these though.
